1947 Frankenstein Buick Hearse

1947 Frankenstein Buick hearse

Photos of this amazing hearse recently popped up online, and it’s pretty irresistible to anyone who likes weird cars, dead things, or any combination of the two.

According to this Flickr user, the 1947 18-window Frankenstein Buick hearse, currently rotting away in some field in Greece, is a mutant version of a Buick Roadmaster Eight. The description states that it was originally built in Flint, Michigan, and most likely coachbuilt in Greece.

The Frankenstein hearse is powered by a Mercedes Benz engine and has 1956 Chevrolet tail lights and bumper.

Apparently it’s for sale. And ships worldwide.

Someone definitely needs to save this thing from the field.

If I were to buy this car and add it to my “project list” my wife would save me the work of restoration because As soon as I said “hey honey look what I just bought” I’d be stretched out in the back of it as they towed it away.

Save it? A Buick of that era would not have a Mercedes drive train or floor shift like that. It would have a Straight 8, possibly Dynaflow Transmission, and torque tube , or other chevy drivetrain in it and shift would be on colum. Unusual coach body to save perhaps but I would think it a nightmare to get mechanical parts to get it running

Definitely not a Mercedes engine. That’s a 70’s/80’s Buick 3.8 V6. Looks exactly like the one in my 1981 Buick Regal.
