Rent Jeffrey Dahmer’s Childhood Home for the Republican National Convention

Looking for a place to stay in Ohio during the Republican National Convention? Rent the childhood home of Jeffrey Dahmer, where he murdered his first victim.
Jeffrey Dahmer murdered his first victim in this Ohio home

Ohio leaders are hoping the upcoming Republican National Convention will spotlight Northeast Ohio’s rich history. What better way to do that than with the beautiful Akron home where serial killer and cannibal Jeffrey Dahmer grew up?

This beautiful and unique mid-century modern home in a picturesque setting features 3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, and (assuming it hasn’t been walled up) a crawl space where Dahmer dismembered his first victim before disposing of the remains in the woods behind the house.

The house has been on the market since 2014. While PETA joked about turning it into a vegan restaurant, and there were rumors of a Dahmer bed and breakfast, it seems no one has coughed up the money yet. So the current owner of the property has decided to rent it out during the RNC.

I feel a sudden, growing interest in politics….

From the listing:

Mid-century modern home with a true park-like setting. Smoking and animals okay. This is Jeffrey Dahmer’s childhood home. Close to Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Montrose shopping. Easy access to I-77 highway.

Before Jeffrey Dahmer was the ghoulish Milwaukee cannibal in apartment 215, he was living in this house with his parents in Akron, OH. In the summer of 1978 his parents were getting a divorce. His father was staying at a local motel, and his mother moved with his younger brother to Chippewa Falls, WI. Then 18-year-old Jeffrey was living in the house by himself.

Just three weeks after high school graduation, Dahmer picked up hitchhiker Steven Hicks. They returned to the Dahmer home to drink beer. When Hicks decided he wanted to leave, Jeffrey bludgeoned him from behind with a ten pound dumbbell and then strangled him to death.

He dismembered the body in the crawl space the next day and buried the remains in the backyard. A few weeks later he dug them back up to remove the flesh, which he dissolved in acid and flushed down the toilet. He then crushed the bones with a sledgehammer.

How’s that for rich history?

Country Artist Sturgill Simpson’s Bizarre Cover of Nirvana Classic “In Bloom”

For his latest album, country artist Sturgill Simpson recorded a cover of Nirvana’s 1991 hit “In Bloom.”

A country version of “In Bloom” is strange enough, but this video by director Matt Mahurin is completely bizarre. What the hell is it all about? I have no idea, but I’m quite fond of Mahurin’s style…even if the sound of Kurt Cobain’s lyrics sung in twangs and croons makes me shudder.

This song is from Sturgill Simspon’s upcoming album A Sailor’s Guide To Earth available April 15th.

What Happened to Shakespeare’s Skull?

A recent investigation of Shakespeare’s grave using ground-penetrating radar seems to confirm an old story that the playwright’s skull was stolen.
Ground-penetrating radar reveals Shakespeare's skull may have been stolen

According to BBC News, an 1879 publication claimed the skull of William Shakespeare had been stolen by trophy hunters nearly 100 years earlier from his grave beneath the floor of Stratford’s Holy Trinity Church. A recent investigation for upcoming Channel 4 documentary Shakespeare’s Tomb, which coincides with the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death, has revealed this story may actually be true.

The grave has been disputed as Shakespeare’s final resting place as it doesn’t appear to be long enough for an adult, and it has no name, only this foreboding inscription:

Good friend, for Jesus’ sake forbear, To dig the dust enclosed here. Blessed be the man that spares these stones, And cursed be he that moves my bones.

However, the ground-penetrating radar revealed several interesting details about the burials: The length of the grave extends beyond that of the stone, Shakespeare, as well as his wife and other relatives, were buried only a meter below floor, and, most significantly, the ground has been disturbed in the area where Shakespeare’s head should be.

The Beoley Skull

A skull in the Sheldon Chapel vault at Beoley may belong to William Shakespeare
The skull in the Sheldon Chapel vault at Beoley

Following the revelation that Shakespeare’s skull may be missing, the documentary crew visited nearby St Leonard’s Church in Beoley, where author Simon Andrew Stirling had previously made a fascinating discovery: a skull in one of the vaults below Sheldon Chapel may belong to Shakespeare. In this interview, Stirling says he uncovered a brief mention of the theft in a book about Worcestershire folklore, a legend even most locals were not aware of.

According to the story, a trainee surgeon had hired three youths to steal the skull from Shakespeare’s grave in 1799, in hopes of selling it novelist Horace Walpole for 300 guineas. When the deal with Walpole didn’t work out, the boys hid the skull in the Sheldon vault, where they had been stealing lead from coffins to make coins.

Stirling’s attempts to take measurements and possibly conduct DNA testing of the unidentified skull in the vault were blocked.

For the Channel 4 documentary, however, researchers were given permission to perform a forensic anthropological analysis of the skull. Though Stirling seems doubtful, the team’s findings indicated that it belonged to a woman who died in her 70s, not Shakespeare.

Hand-Carved Tentacle Crib by Artist Garrick Andrus

In the crib of madness: Expecting parents commissioned this creepy crib with tentacles hand-carved by artist Garrick Andrus.

Atlanta artist Garrick Andrus was commissioned to build this crib with tentacles for friends who were having a baby. The caption on the Imgur post reads:

My wife and I wanted to get a custom crib to pass down as an heirloom to our children. This crib was designed and carved by Atlanta artist Garrick Andrus

The Eldritch crib is truly a thing of cosmic horror. The hand-carved walnut panels depict a dizzying scene of entangled tentacles, eyes, mouths, and a winding path into an ominous, crypt-like structure. Perfect for many future generations of Cthulhu-worshipping human larva.

What Does Human Flesh Taste Like?

In the latest episode of Brit Lab, journalist Greg Foot get his leg muscle biopsied and cooked to find out what human flesh tastes like.

It is illegal to eat human flesh. Even if it is your own. So to figure out just what people taste like, Greg gets a few small pieces of his thigh muscle removed. He then takes those samples to a lab where they are tested to determine what meat human most closely resembles, as well as the aroma of cooked human flesh.

With this new information, Greg decides to go home and fry up something as close to the test results as possible. Tribal cannibals were known to call human flesh the long pig, but according to Greg, it’s actually a little beefy, a little lamby…and apparently delicious.
