Houses of Horror: Mills View Mansion and Stimson House
Mills View and Stimson House served as the filming locations for the cinematic haunted houses of two creepy and quirky 80s horror movies.

Though the Futuro House production ended long ago, these UFO-shaped homes from the 1960s can still be found in unexpected places.
The Futuro house, with its signature flying saucer shape and airplane hatch entrance, was designed in 1968 by Finnish architect Matti Suuronen as a ski cabin that would be “quick to heat and easy to construct in rough terrain.” It was able to comfortably house eight people inside its fully furnished interior.
Composed of fiberglass-reinforced polyester plastic, the Futuro was eventually discontinued due to the Oil Crisis, where tripled gasoline prices made manufacture of plastic extremely expensive
A total of 96 Futuro houses were made in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Though production ended long ago, you can still find these bizarre UFO homes lingering in some of the strangest places.
The “Spaceship House” located in Pensacola Beach, Florida.

The well-known Futuro house in Greenwich, NJ was once used in multiple amusement park rides in the 1970s at Morey’s Pier in Wildwood, NJ. It served first as a Planet of the Apes ride, then moved on to Star Trek, Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back.

If I could replicate this design with an aluminum superstructure and fiberglass skin would anyone buy it?
In the late 60 I was introduced to the future concept by Peter Colquhoun an Albury Solicitor. Peter was a member of the well known Colquhoun Real Eatate family. Peter was the agent for these structures and had great ideas including dwelling on mining sites, motels etc. I have no idea how they progressed as I moved from Wagga Wagga to Sydney in 1970.

There is or was one in Covington, Ky that was visible as you drove south across the I75 bridge to the left on the hill side. It was very well documented and photographed in the local newspapers, Cincinnati Enquirer. Its been 5 years or so since we viewed it,
Jay,
Using parts listed in RV catalogs the shell could be built for $96,000. Good plans showing the proportion and relation of parts would be necessary. RV windows and interior furnishings
could be used as well. Jay
Hi Jay,
An engineer, skilled in the design of aluminum travel trailers, could draw a set of plans showing how to build this flying saucer concept in wedge sections. (like a pie) The pie sections could be hauled by a semi and assembled on site. Jay
Hi jay I would certainly be interested in replicating one what would the costings be please make contact with me jaygriggs14@hotmail.com would be highly interested to see if it could be replicated in aluminium outer skin as well. As have a restoted vintage airstream

I have been seeing it for years and at one time it was a hot dog stand. Wieners from outer space in the Outer Banks what a concept!!!!
there was one of these in Willeton in Western Australia, it recently came up for sale after disappearing for years, it has been sectioned up for storage. The Willeton Futuro was an Estate Agents office for a local real estate business in the 70s/ 80s then stood abandoned for years.

Is the first picture after the head “Futuro House Photos”, with the alien faces in the windows, of a place in the Outer Banks of NC? It looks very familiar! Thanks.
