The majestic desert rain frog keeps a lookout for enemies
The tiny desert rain frog (Breviceps macrops) is a cute little bugger, but don’t let that fool you. This species of frog are small but fierce.
The desert rain frog lives on the sandy shores between the sand dunes and sea in South Africa and Namibia. During the day, they burrow 10-12 centimeters beneath the surface into the cool, wet sand.
They emerge at night to hunt, typically feeding off the various insects buzzing around piles of excrement.
But when the desert rain frog is threatened, it unleashes a fearsome war cry to scare off would be predators.
