Not French (though housed in the Louvre). Discovered in Egypt and dates back to 4th century AD.

I first came across the Louvre Doll in a book by Sharon Bolton called the “The Craftsman” and I was intrigued enough to search it on- line. I highly recommend this book and everything else I’ve ever read by this author
