Addams Family trailer

Watch the First Trailer for the Addams Family Animated Film

It should come as no surprise that The Addams Family cartoons by Charles Addams, as well as television series from 1960s and the movie adaptations from the 1990s (which are near perfection – well, at least the first one is), are cherished here at Cult of Weird HQ.

That is why it is with great sorrow that I present to you the first trailer for the long-awaited animated film.

If you need me, I’ll be in my dungeon crying.

A Few Familiar Terrors in New Twilight Zone Trailer

New Twilight Zone trailer offers look at new series with a few nods to the original.

Last month we got a suitably bizarre teaser for the upcoming reimagining of The Twilight Zone as the Super Bowl feed seemed to glitch into another dimension where Jordan Peele beckoned us to question our reality by asking “What dimension are you even in?

And then opened a door in the dimly lit field of the empty stadium, and disappeared into it.

That was enough to get my mind reeling at all the possibilities.

Now CBS has given us a real trailer which includes peeks at a handful of new episodes, and a couple quick glimpses of objects hinting that the new series is connected to the original.

The first is a toy of the creature from one of the most iconic episodes, “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet.” In that episode, William Shatner watches through the small window of the plane as a monster only he can see tears apart the wing of the plane. In the new trailer, we see a man sitting on a plane. Later, he’s kneeling on an empty beach, distraught and trying to make a phone call. In another quick shot we see a doll of the creature washing ashore on what seems to be the same beach.

The second is a relic from another episode starring William Shatner called “Nick of Time,” in which a Mystic Seer fortune telling machine with a bobbing devil head seems to be making eerily accurate predictions.

The Twilight Zone is coming to CBS All Access on April 1st.

New Ghostbusters teaser trailer

Ecto-1 Returns in Teaser for Secret Ghostbusters Movie

Trailer teases the return of the Ghostbusters with a malfunctioning proton pack and a rusting Ecto-1.

A new Ghostbusters is coming in 2020! It was announced this week with the arrival of this short but effective teaser trailer. It’s an eerie night and spine-tingling music from the original Ghostbusters score is playing as the camera moves past a fence dripping with ectoplasm into an creepy barn where we hear the sound of proton pack that won’t start. And then the wind blows up a tarp to reveal a rusting Ecto-1.

The new film is being directed and co-written by Jason Reitman, the son of Ivan Reitman who directed the original Ghostbusters.

“I’ve always thought of myself as the first Ghostbusters fan, when I was a 6-year-old visiting the set. I wanted to make a movie for all the other fans,” Reitman told Entertainment Weekly. “This is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot. What happened in the ’80s happened in the ’80s, and this is set in the present day.”

The new Ghostbusters is set for a summer 2020 release.

The Bray Road Beast

Bray Road Beast: Documentary Tracks Down Wisconsin Werewolf Legend

The latest documentary from Seth Breedlove and Small Town Monsters tracks down one of Wisconsin’s strangest legends, the beast of Bray Road.

Small Town Monsters has produced a series of fantastic documentaries about some of the strangest backroads legends and lore from around the country. But, as a native of the great weird state of Wisconsin, I am the most excited about their latest project: The Bray Road Beast.

A clip from the film was released earlier this week of an eyewitness discussing the possible occult origins of the Beast of Bray Road, but now we have a full-length trailer exploring the phenomena of werewolf sightings in Wisconsin and around the country.

About The Bray Road Beast

“In 1989 a country road outside of the Wisconsin town of Elkhorn became the center of a media frenzy unlike anything the world had ever seen,” Small Town Monsters writes. “‘People were seeing, what looked to them, like a werewolf…’ said Linda Godfrey the newspaper reporter who brought the story to light in a local publication called ‘The Week’. In fact, many people -locals and out-of-towners alike- had sightings and encounters with the creature that came to be known as The Beast of Bray Road. Many of these sightings were largely ignored or under-reported… that is, until October 5th when the new documentary film, The Bray Road Beast will unlock decades of history relating to ‘werewolf’ sightings around the US.

“The film explores not only the infamous Elkhorn creature sightings but also centuries of Werewolf legends and myths from across the globe. From the predominant theory that witnesses merely saw an undiscovered species of large wolves to more bizarre aspects of the phenomena, no stone is left unturned in this 66 minute film, shot on location in and around Wisconsin. The seventh film from award-winning filmmaker, Seth Breedlove, arrives on streaming platforms and DVD.”

The Bray Road Beast

The film, directed by Seth Breedlove and narrated by Lyle Blackburn, hits streaming platforms and DVD on October 5th. There will be a special sneak-preview screening of The Bray Road Beast at HorrorHound Indianapolis on Saturday, August 25th, and a Wisconsin premier at this year’s Milwaukee Paranormal Conference.

UPDATE: The Bray Road Beast is now streaming on Amazon right here.
